Point Cloud compatibility! I’m curious to see if/when we can take advantage of this feature!ĭoor and Window interface is improved… if for any reason we steer away from Cadimage although Cadimage is also talking about a full rebuild of their interface.
Archicad bim windows#
Here are a few videos of AC 19’s new features that we may find most useful all this and more should be covered at the SF User Group meeting next month, but if you are not going to be able to make it check out the following clips:Īll windows can be set as tabs in a frame, rather than individual windows. This entry was posted in ARCHICAD 19, Dimensioning, Floor Plans, Label, Level of Detail, Level of Precision, Uncategorized and tagged Labels, Level of Precision on Novemby wwabim. I will be using this for project audits, and encourage others to use it as a self-audit, when you run up against walls that will not heal correctly in elevation/section. I ran a check on my entire model and tracked down each wall that was misaligned (only 2), and fixed them. With a single click you can check the angle of any wall or beam in floor plan view and get an “ok” for walls that are modeled correctly or an angle increment for walls that are “slightly off”. We now have their label in our library, it is called “Ortho Label Check 19” available in the label settings. Thankfully James Murray and Link Ellis have developed a label that has helped me combat this issue and track down any model elements (walls and beams) that are off orthogonal, even to the nearest 1000th decimal point! I have run into some cases where clicking carefully and moving precisely has still resulted in slightly imprecise modeling. Graphisofts recommendation on combatting this is to “click carefully”, which works. This can occasionally result in a low level of precision, where elements are just slightly off orthogonal. Most importantly, synthetic underlayment is fast to install, cutting associated labour costs.ARCHICAD 19 has an interesting bug that has developed from the introduction of the new reference and snap features. Roofing shoes do not catch on synthetic underlayment as it is durable and tough. Synthetic underlayment is slightly more expensive than felt underlayment but protects your roof against moisture. This can lead to your wood rotting and leaks in your home. Felt underlayment will absorb water, retaining moisture. The purpose of underlayment is to protect your roof from water damage and moisture. Roofers wear special roofing shoes that cause felt to be torn and ripped as they lay shingles. It is susceptible to tearing and leaking. Many roofing warranties now require a ridge vent.įelt underlayment is an old type of roof underlayment. The cost of ridge vents is slightly more expensive than box vents but saves costs associated with labour. It allows for more warm air to escape your roof than box venting.

Ridge venting is installed at the peak of your roof along the ridge. Ridge venting is aesthetically more pleasing than box venting. Proper ventilation also prolongs the life of your roof insulation (called ฉนวนหลังคา in Thai) and shingles. A good ventilation system will protect moisture and heat buildup. Your ventilation system greatly affects the lifespan of your roof. New construction builds have moved to ridge venting.

The cost is minimal and contractors already make a significant amount of profit in their base estimate.
Archicad bim upgrade#
Many contractors offer this upgrade for free. If a contractor tries to tell you the cost difference is thousands of dollars to “upgrade,” it is untrue. The cost between 3-tab and architectural shingles is minimal. This difference is significant during storm season. Three-tab shingles protect your roof in up to 60 miles per hour winds while architectural shingles protect your roof against winds up to 130 miles per hour. Architectural shingles will protect your roof against higher wind speeds. When the door-knocker starts explaining the areas of your roof that are concerning or need fixing, you will be knowledgeable to participate and ask questions during the conversation.Īrchitectural shingles, also known as 3D shingles, are more resistant to storm damage. How do you choose the right contractor? How do you know if the contractor is legitimate or a scammer? Understanding the parts of your roof, how they interact, and their importance will give you a leg up on the salesperson at your door. Once shingles start falling from your roof, you may have different contracting companies knocking on your door offering their services.

When your roof leaks, it can be devastating.
